Half a century of continuous development

2019 was an eventful year for Horyzon. We celebrated our 50th anniversary and invited to anniversary events in Geneva, Bern, Olten and Zurich. The preparation and realisation of these events gave us the unique opportunity to meet many of our companions personally and to find out what connects them to Horyzon since its foundation. Together we looked back on the past 50 years and revived stories from days gone by. What connects us all, was the constant development of the current foundation.

Thus, Horyzon did not stand still in its anniversary year and was able to gain a new partner organisation YWCA South Sudan. In our tender last year, they prevailed against 50 competitors with the project "My Body, My Right, My Future". In the project, young people from the province of Yambio learn about their sexuality-related health rights and develop alternative life plans to early motherhood. After the preparations were completed in the second half of last year, the first activities began in early 2020. At the same time, Horyzon was once again able to support the programmes in Bangladesh, Haiti, Colombia and Palestine with over one million Swiss francs, reaching almost 10’000 young people.
