Review 2h-Events 2021

After the spirited start in June with the Horyzon 2h-Challenge, in which the entire Horyzon team also participated (see the news article from June), young and old pedaled in Eschlikon at the end of August to support the Horyzon project "My Body, My Right, My Future" in South Sudan.

Despite nasty weather, 38 participants covered a proud 1,429 km on the 31st Hinterthurgau 2h ride. The events continued on September 4 with the Dominolauf in Basel, where Horyzon was present for the first time as a side project with an information booth. We used the opportunity to draw attention to the disastrous situation in Haiti and to collect donations for the Horyzon project "Espace Sûr - A Safe Place - Education for Girls and Young Women in the Slums of Haiti". The event in Basel proved to be a great crowd puller and an optimal networking platform. We will be happy to participate again in two years.

On September 18, the season of the 2h events came to an end with two races. At the 34th Olten 2h run, 380 sports enthusiasts took part in the run, partly decentralized with the TrackTok app, partly on site through Olten's city center. For the first time, it was possible to participate in the run with different means of transport such as scooters, inline skates, wheelchairs and others. The proceeds from the run supported the Horyzon project "Paza la Paz - A step towards peace" in Colombia. On the same Saturday, 81 participants ran and cycled in Grabs for the Horyzon project in South Sudan. For the 33rd time the event went over the stage, as so often in bright weather and with an impressive mountain backdrop.

The Horyzon team would like to thank all participants and organizers for the excellently planned events, which were carried out with great commitment and which make a significant contribution to enabling the Horyzon partner organizations to carry out projects for the benefit of socially disadvantaged young people.

By the way, the dates of the next Horyzon 2h-Challenge 2022 are already fixed. In 2022 it will be held from June 17 - June 20. You can already register here. Like last year, groups can use one third of the collected amount for their own project. More information will follow on our website. We are already looking forward to your participation!
