Film «Tierrita» at the theaterstudio in Olten

We would like to draw your attention to the film "Tierrita", which will be shown on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 8:15 pm at the Theaterstudio in Olten.

The 30-minute film shows the struggle of a small farming community for their land in Colombia. It emerged from a five-month mission of the author Leonie Pock as a volunteer human rights observer of the NGO Peace Watch in Colombia from 2019.

The small farming community in Guayabo in the Magdalena Medio region of Colombia has been threatened for more than 10 years by a wealthy landowner who claims the land for himself. The community has been attacked and evicted from their land several times. In addition to the physical violence, they also suffer from structural violence: there are hardly any schools, no medical care, no clean drinking water and no infrastructure such as roads or flood protection. Nevertheless, the community does not give up and fights for their rights by peaceful means.

The film accompanies the community as they prepare for a court hearing. "Tierrita" tells the story of resilience, hope and the pursuit of happiness wherever it can be found.
